On May 14th, the award ceremony for the "Xiaomi Young Scholars - Technology Innovation Award" and "Xiaomi Scholarship" was held at the Alumni House of Nanjing University on Xianlin campus. Attendees included Liu De, Co-founder and Senior Vice President of Xiaomi Group, and Chairman of the Xiaomi Foundation; Diao Meiling, Executive Secretary of the Xiaomi Foundation; and Suo Wenbin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Nanjing University.
Suo Wenbin expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of NJU for the long-term support from the Xiaomi Foundation for the university's educational endeavors. He emphasized that as a high-level research university, NJU is committed to cultivating top-notch innovative talents in line with national strategic needs. The collaboration with the Xiaomi Foundation represents a synergy between universities and societal forces, contributing jointly to technological innovation and talent cultivation. He noted the remarkable achievements of this partnership, which has so far recognized three batches of 21 "Xiaomi Young Scholars" and two batches of 140 "Xiaomi Scholarship" recipients, including young scientists who have published significant research in top journals like Nature. The Xiaomi Foundation is driven by innovation and actively fulfills its social responsibilities, continuously investing in fields like technological innovation and talent cultivation. He anticipates deeper strategic collaboration in the future to seize the high ground in technological innovation and nurture more outstanding talents for the new era.
Liu De outlined the development journey of Xiaomi Group and the Xiaomi Foundation. He stated that the foundation focuses on three main areas: technological innovation, talent cultivation, and charitable aid, with a few representative projects. These initiatives not only support cutting-edge technology projects but also pay special attention to the growth and development of young scholars. He expressed that NJU has provided Xiaomi with numerous high-quality talents, strongly supporting Xiaomi's technological innovation endeavors. He hopes that more students from NJU will join Xiaomi, which is willing to offer a broad stage for young people to grow in practice and shine in innovation. Xiaomi aims to work hand in hand with universities like NJU and various social sectors to contribute to technological progress and social development.
During the ceremony, Zhou Jianfeng, Deputy Director of the Institute of Science and Technology, announced the decision to award the "Xiaomi Young Scholars - Technology Innovation Award." Li Hao, Director of the Student Affairs Department, announced the decision to award the "Xiaomi Scholarship." Leaders from Xiaomi and NJU jointly presented awards to the winning faculty and student representatives.
Fu Yuxiang, a representative of the "Xiaomi Young Scholars - Technology Innovation Award," and Shi Yunqi, a representative of the "Xiaomi Special Scholarship," shared their experience and future aspiration. Directors of related departments of Xiaomi Group and Xiaomi Foundation explained their talent cultivation strategy, technology strategy and related developments.
Feng Fan, Director of the Alumni Affairs and Development Office, attended the ceremony, and Deputy Director Fang Jia hosted the event. Following the award ceremony, the Xiaomi Young Scholars Forum and Xiaomi Scholarship Forum were held separately.
