On July 17, Wang Shuxin, President of Chongqing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, led a delegation to Nanjing University. Both parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement, opening a new chapter of collaboration. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), met with Wang Shuxin and his delegation. Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the CAS, attended the event.

Tan Tieniu warmly welcomed Wang Shuxin and his delegation. He noted that Nanjing University and Chongqing University have had a close relationship, jointly writing the legend of "one campus, two universities" during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Chongqing University, with its longstanding history and strong foundation in engineering, together with Nanjing University, share a solid basis for cooperation in disciplines construction, talent training, scientific research, and historical heritage conservation. The two institutions complement each other strongly in terms of disciplinary prospects and foundational strength. He expressed hope that both universities, standing at a new historical starting point, would deepen cooperation, both preserving their legacy and innovating for the future, and jointly build world-class universities with Chinese characteristics.
Wang Shuxin expressed his gratitude for the long-standing support from Nanjing University. He highlighted that located in the western part of China, Chongqing University has developed rapidly in recent years with substantial support from national policies, playing a crucial role in the development of Southwest China. Nanjing University, as an internationally reputed, top-tier university with deep roots in humanities, social sciences, and basic scientific research, serves as an exemplary model for Chongqing University. Through this exchange and the signing of the agreement, he hoped to recreate the glorious history of cooperation between the two universities, pioneering a new model of collaboration between eastern and western universities, and jointly writing a new chapter for world-class universities with Chinese characteristics.
At the signing ceremony, Tan Zhemin welcomed and thanked Wang Shuxin and his delegation. He pointed out that both universities, as members of the high-level university group in China, share deep fraternal ties. In the new era, the cooperation between the two universities has been close and fruitful. Standing at this new historical juncture, both universities aim to address the epochal question of "what should universities contribute to the construction of a strong nation", by jointly building high-level scientific research and innovation platforms, strengthening talent cultivation, sharing resources, and promoting the spirit of wartime education, injecting new vitality into the development of both institutions and contributing to the rapid construction of a strong nation in education.

Su Wenbin, Vice President of Nanjing University, and Rao Jinsong, Vice President of Chongqing University, represented both sides in signing the strategic cooperation agreement.

Li Kongwen, Director of the Infrastructure Department of Nanjing University, and Yan Bo, Director of the Infrastructure Department of Chongqing University, signed a letter of intent for the cooperation project to repair the Songlinpo site (the former site of Central University during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression) of Chongqing University.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Nanjing University and Chongqing University jointly curated "A Monument to Education amid the War Time: Special Exhibition on the Education of Nanjing University and Chongqing University during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression". Tan Zhemin and Wang Shuxin unveiled the special exhibition.

At the opening ceremony of the special exhibition, Su Wenbin noted that Nanjing University and Chongqing University forged deep and affectionate ties amid national crises. Looking to the future, both universities aim to be steadfast practitioners of education serving the country, strong promoters of cultural heritage and innovation, brave pioneers in scientific and technological independence, and active contributors to regional coordinated development. Rao Jinsong stated that this special exhibition rebuilt a spiritual bridge linking the past and the future, hoping to ignite the belief in education serving the country in the new era, allowing people to remember the years of shared adversity at Songlinpo, and letting Nanjing University and Chongqing University continue to join hands in the historical watch, illuminating the path of national rejuvenation with the light of academia.

This special exhibition is divided into six chapters, displaying over 180 precious photos, archives, objects, videos, and more than 50,000 words of text, data, and charts. It demonstrate the efforts made by Nanjing University during the national crisis of to preserve academic continuity, bravely resist the aggression, assist refugees, serve society, and contribute to science and education, as well as the deep affection and cooperation with Chongqing University and other universities during the war.
Tan Zhemin and Wang Shuxin's delegation also visited the Nanjing University emblem and insignia special exhibition and the University History Museum. Leaders and representatives from relevant departments of both universities participated in the event.
