Tan Tieniu conducts summer safety inspections on Xianlin Campus

On July 18th, Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, conducted summer safety inspections on Xianlin Campus.

At the Asset Management Department, Tan Tieniu warmly communicated with the staff, advising them to balance work and rest and to take measures against the heat. Upon learning that the summer is the "peak time" for student dormitory allocation, he emphasized the need to further refine the work management process, to fully provide high-quality services to students.

He visited the offices of the Party Committee Organization Department and the International Affairs Office, engaging warmly with the staff. He took a detailed interest in the operation of the summer school for international exchange students, expressing high appreciation for the responsibility shown by colleagues who continued to work during the holidays.

At the Undergraduate Admissions Office, Tan Tieniu thoroughly understood the progress and procedures of our university's admissions work and engaged warmly with the staff and volunteers. He stressed that admissions work must be meticulous, with repeated verification and multiple checks of all information, reflecting the rigorous work style of Nanjing University. Faced with numerous phone inquiries from candidates across regions, he emphasized the need for patient responses and detailed explanations to prospective students.

At the south gate pavilion of Xianlin Campus, Tan Tieniu warmly interacted with the security personnel on duty and visitors scheduled for campus tours. He emphasized need to enhance various protections for staff working in high temperatures outdoors, ensuring the normal operation of air conditioning equipment in the pavilions. Tan Tieniu pointed out that during the summer vacation, many visitors come to the university, and the image of the security staff affects the first impression of external visitors to Nanjing University. He hoped that everyone would communicate with visitors in a patient, enthusiastic and friendly manner, enhancing humanized management.

In the Security Office's campus 110 alarm center and the Du Xia Library, Tan Tieniu carefully checked the operation of the remote monitoring system and inquired about the fire safety system, real-time monitoring equipment, constant temperature and humidity protection for ancient books and cultural relics, and the management of hazardous chemical storage laboratories. He emphasized that during the summer vacation, with high temperatures and increased risk of fire, fire patrols must be taken very seriously, enhancing safety awareness and strengthening a 24-hour supervision mechanism, optimizing the management of critical fire safety areas like hazardous chemical laboratories to ensure comprehensive coverage and no blind spots, always safeguarding campus.

At the university hospital, Tan Tieniu earnestly inquired about the medical treatment of teachers and students during the summer vacation and the duty arrangements of medical staff. He emphasized the need to further refine work deployment, scientifically assess the development trends of various diseases under high-temperature conditions, and prepare work plans in advance to ensure high-quality medical services for teachers and students.

In building No.12 student dormitories, He carefully checked the operation of various hardware and software facilities in the student dormitories and warmly interacted with students staying on campus during the holidays. He stressed the importance of using the summer vacation to clean and repair the dormitories of graduating students, especially timely maintenance and updates of old facilities such as air conditioners, to provide excellent support for the students' study and life.

In the office of the Worker's Union, Tan Tieniu thoroughly understood the composition of the union's staff, office environment, and summer duty arrangements, and fully affirmed the recent work achievements of the university's union.
