On July 30, the closing ceremony and awards ceremony of the "Huawei Cup" 8th China Postgraduate IC Innovation Competition finals were held on Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University. The competition was organized by NJU, with strong support from the Suzhou Municipal Talent Office and the Suzhou New District Management Committee. Honorary Director of the Specialized Committee for the Competition, Professor Lu Jianhua from Tsinghua University; Honorary Director of the Organizing Committee for the competition, Professor Wu Hanming from Zhejiang University; Yang Shubing, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education; Liu Bo, Vice Mayor of Suzhou Municipal People’s Government; and Suo Wenbin, Vice President of Nanjing University attended the closing ceremony.

Lu Jianhua encouraged the award-winning students to aim at the world's frontiers, take root in basic research, explore new technologies, and integrate their personal ideals into the overall national development.

Wu Hanming praised the winning teams for demonstrating the potential and responsibility of China's youth in the field of integrated circuits, calling them the hope for the industry's future.

In his video message, Yang Shubing expressed hope that universities would further deepen reforms in integrated circuits talent cultivation and looked forward to collaborative advancement from all sectors of society to promote the implementation and transformation of more outstanding projects.

Liu Bo sincerely invited the young talents to choose Suzhou and realize their innovation dreams in Suzhou.

Suo Wenbin hoped this competition would serve as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation among all parties and jointly promote high-quality development and innovation in the integrated circuits industry.

On behalf of the University, Jiang Tian, Assistant President of NJU and Executive Deputy Director of Suzhou Campus Management Committee initiated the Suzhou New District-Nanjing University Synergistic Development programme. As one of the first pilot units of the "Synergistic Development of High-Tech Zones and Higher Education Institutions" in Jiangsu province, NJU and Suzhou New District will focus on the photonics and integrated circuit industries, with the main goal of cultivating new productive forces, and integrally promote educational development, scientific and technological innovation, and talent cultivation, strengthening mutual adaptation and empowerment between the two parties.

Nanjing University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Suzhou Vocational Institute of Industrial Technology signed an agreement to form an alliance for the joint cultivation of integrated circuits talents. The alliance will strengthen the supply of innovative, application-oriented, and skilled talents in the field of integrated circuits.

After three days of intense competition, 18 first prizes, 65 second prizes, as well as enterprise-themed track special awards, outstanding organization unit awards, and outstanding instructor awards were presented. Three teams from Xidian University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Nanjing University won the competition's highest award, the "Chip Innovation Star." Eight teams from NJU won one "Chip Innovation Star," three enterprise-themed first prizes, with an award rate of 75% for second prize and above. Our university also received the Outstanding Organization Award, achieving a significant breakthrough in this competition.

The closing and award ceremony was hosted by Wang Xinran, Party Secretary and Executive Dean of the School of Integrated Circuits at NJU.
During the finals, various activities were held, including the Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Forum and Deans' Forum, the Integrated Circuits Discipline Graduate Ideological and Political Education Forum, a High-end Talent Fair with face-to-face meetings with famous enterprises, three technical forums, Suzhou Open Day, and Suzhou New District Night. These diverse activities built platforms for exchange and cooperation among participating teachers, students, universities, and enterprises, forming a new paradigm that effectively connects talent chains, industrial chains, and innovation chains.
At the Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Forum and Deans' Forum, deans of integrated circuits schools from multiple universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Nanjing University, as well as heads of demonstration microelectronics colleges and integrated circuits industry-education integration innovation platform construction units, and experts from enterprises such as GalaxyCore Microelectronics and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. shared their construction experiences, providing constructive ideas for integrated circuit industry-education integration and gathering wisdom and strength for discipline construction and talent cultivation.

The Integrated Circuits Discipline Graduate Ideological and Political Education Forum was initiated by this competition. Nearly 30 responsible persons from schools of integrated circuits (microelectronics) visited and conducted research at units such as the Suzhou Integrated Circuit Innovation Center. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on various topics during the roundtable discussion.

The High-end Talent Fair with face-to-face meetings with famous enterprises brought together more than 50 quality enterprises in the integrated circuit industry, including Huawei, GalaxyCore, and Yangtze Memory Technologies, focusing on the integrated circuits industry chain and constructing a talent recruitment matrix, building a solid bridge for talent supply and demand in the integrated circuits industry.

Three technical forums invited top experts in the field of integrated circuits in China to share the latest research results and application progress, and discuss the development path of chip technology in the post-Moore era and related technology industrialization models.

The China Postgraduate IC Innovation Competition is guided by the Department of Degree Management and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education. This year, NJU was approved as the organizer of this competition. It has attracted 1,483 teams composed of 4,160 postgraduate students from 206 universities, with the scale and coverage of participation significantly increased compared to the previous competition. Eventually, 188 teams, with more than 500 students and more than 200 teachers, gathered at the Suzhou Campus to participate in the finals. NJU's relevant colleges and management departments of provided good organizational support for the competition, which was widely praised by participating teachers and students.

The successful hosting of this competition further enhanced the influence of NJU's integrated circuits discipline, fully demonstrated the advantages and potential of NJU's Suzhou Campus, deepened the linkage between NJU and Suzhou City and Suzhou New District, promoted the efficient integration of "university intelligence" and "local resources", and injected new momentum into the university's development of emerging engineering disciplines and the construction of a new pattern of university-local collaboration.
