From June 21 to 22, the 2025 China-ASEAN Dialogue was held on Gulou Campus of Nanjing University. The event was supported by the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences, hosted by Nanjing University's Collaborative Innovative Center of South China Sea Studies, and co-organized by the School of International Studies of Nanjing University. 15 experts from 8 ASEAN countries, along with 25 Chinese scholars, gathered to engage in two days of in-depth dialogue and exchange on pressing challenges brought by the current international landscape, focusing on topics such as deepening China-ASEAN cooperation and enhancing policy and conceptual coordination.
Prominent figures attending the conference included Ambassador Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre; Liu Xizhong, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences; Lawrence Anderson, Senior Research Fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University and former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Cambodia. Participants engaged in discussions on the South China Sea situation and China-ASEAN relations.

The conference featured six subforums, where participating experts analyzed the situation and explored strategies from political, economic, and security perspectives, contributing insights to the positive development of regional relations.

The China-ASEAN Dialogue is a representative international academic event regularly organized by Nanjing University's Collaborative Innovative Center of South China Sea Studies. It served as an important venue for discussing and exploring ways to strengthen China-ASEAN cooperation in addressing various international challenges and pressures. The successful hosting of the China-ASEAN Dialogue series has also been an essential academic channel for the center to actively convey China's perspectives and share China's stories with ASEAN think tanks and academia. The 2025 China-ASEAN Dialogue received high praise from ASEAN participants.
