With the development of technologies such as big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and wearable devices, the use of modern information technology to acquire, store, analyze, and apply health big data has become a topic of widespread concern in society. In this context, Health Informatics (HI), as an emerging interdisciplinary field that studies how to use information technology to meet users' health needs, address related health issues, and make medical decisions, has gained increasing attention from researchers in various disciplines both domestically and internationally, gradually becoming a research hotspot.
The Institute of Health Informatics at the School of Information Management, Nanjing University, was established in September 2020. Its goal is to respond to the national strategy of "Healthy China," fill the research gap in health informatics studies in Chinese universities, enrich the research levels, and provide a platform for communication and collaboration in domestic health informatics research. The institute relies on the School of Information Management, Nanjing University, and approaches health and medical issues from the perspective of information resource management. Leveraging the advantages of interdisciplinary collaboration, it fully utilizes internet technology and data analysis techniques to address the practical challenges of health informationization.
